Older Adults Shelter

The Sparrow Older Adults Shelter is a dedicated space for older adults experiencing homelessness. Our shelter provides a warm, secure, and compassionate environment where guests can find not only temporary refuge but also support services tailored to their unique needs. We offer comfortable accommodations, nutritious meals, and access to essential resources such as medical care, mental health services, and social support. By fostering a sense of community and dignity, the Older Adults Shelter is committed to enhancing the quality of life for older adults and helping them transition to more permanent housing solutions.

Fraser Valley Cultural Diversity Awards

Sparrow Community Care Society was honoured to receive the award for Effective Human Resource Strategies at the Fraser Valley Cultural Diversity Awards. This recognition is a testament to our commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace. We believe that a diverse workforce enhances our ability to serve a diverse community and strengthens our organization as a whole.

Support for Archway Community Service’s Mom and Wayne’s Shelter

In addition to our flagship shelter project, we supported the operation of Archway Community Service’s Mom and Wayne’s Shelter by providing daytime services to their 10 shelter guests. This collaboration enabled us to extend our reach and support to more individuals in need, demonstrating our commitment to collaboration and partnership in addressing homelessness.

Contributions to Abbotsford’s Extreme Weather Response:

Sparrow was also an active contributor to Abbotsford’s Extreme Weather Response (EWR) by providing transportation to EWR Shelter clients. This support was crucial in ensuring that individuals experiencing homelessness had access to safe and warm shelter during extreme weather conditions. Our participation in the EWR program exemplifies our commitment to the well-being and safety of the most vulnerable members of our community.

Active Participation in Community Tables and Initiatives

Sparrow is an effective and collaborative organization that actively participates in a number of community tables and initiatives, including the Senior’s Resource Table, Abbotsford ACCESS Partners Table, Coordinated Access Systems development, and Extreme Weather Response Planning and Coordination. These collaborations enable us to work closely with partners and stakeholders to address the needs of our community effectively. Our involvement in these initiatives demonstrates our commitment to collaboration and partnership in creating positive change in our community.
